Twitter

Twitter. Some get it. Some don’t. I’m somewhere in the middle I think. At first I thought “It’s just a website that does the same as the status does on Facebook!”, but it’s growing on me now. As is blogging! In fact Twitter is basically just a mini blog and what’s worse is that this blog features my twitter updates… a mini blog in a blog! “But what’s the point?” I hear a lot of people ask. Well, that’s up to you! I think everyone uses it for different reasons! Some just like to stay up to date with friends and family, some use it just to follow the lives of the rich and famous and others believe it or not, use it as a competition…

Work and Cars

So here’s an update on my work situation…

…yup, that’s it! Nothing has changed! We’re still in limbo here with no more news as to what is happening. Not even the directors seem to know what is happening but apparently we’ll find out in a few weeks… hopefully!

On a different note, I almost sold my car yesterday. Unfortunately the buyer lives in Romania and won’t contact me so it sounds a bit like a scam to me! For those of you who didn’t know, I’m selling my Nissan Skyline. If anyone knows anyone who may want such a car, please get in contact!

Snow & Easter

Well it’s not what I wanted… I really prefer snow and Christmas, but you can’t have everything! If anything it was nice just to see snow of any form!

Easter is another time of the year when friends and family unite to enjoy themselves. Unfortunately this isn’t the case for us all. A few days ago one of my best friends father died of brain cancer at the age of 52. I’d like to wish Mark and his entire family well and if there’s anything that we can do then please don’t hesitate to let us know.

On a lighter note, work is still going… I don’t think the directors realise just how stressed their employees are?! For them it’s, “One of our companies has shut down so lets go on holiday!” whilst the rest of us are sitting in the office working bank holidays and wondering how secure our jobs are!

As you also may have noticed I’m now on Twitter and Facebook. On Twitter I’m lifeofanitgeek and facebook I’m just Adam Taveirne. Make sure if you add me as a friend that you let me know you came through this site or I may not add you!!

The Lads Stag Do

I just can’t wait!...

Just after Christmas, a friend of mine got engaged. It was an interesting proposal… at least from my end! The proposal consisted of a fireworks display which was loosely choreographed around some music and it went pretty well to be honest despite the fact that a lot of the fireworks didn’t go off! Anyway, as you can tell by the title of today’s log, she said yes…

In early June the original lads group will head for a stag holiday down in Somerset and I really can’t wait! It’s only for a weekend but it’s going to be a great laugh. Expect a few pictures soon after but I’m sure I’ll rant on about it again soon as we’ve a few months to go yet!

Blag of the Week

It’s not often that anyone can just walk into the mobile phone shop and walk out with the top of the range phone for free... That’s exactly what I did a few weeks ago. My SonyEricsson K800 when it decided to crash, turn itself off and not turn back on again. So off I go to see what upgrade O2 can offer me for free and amazingly it was the Nokia N95 8GB… Nokia’s current flagship phone!

I must admit that it’s growing on me. It’s a great phone once to get used to it. Remembering to close applications rather than just hiding them is the biggest problem as open applications can really drain the battery. Just yesterday I charged it. I listened to a podcast (TWiT) for about 30 mins, some music for about 30 mins and downloaded the latest TWiT podcast. Now because I left these open, it killed the battery overnight! Other than that, it’s a fine phone with all the features you could expect from a flagship model. I’m just so amazed I was about to upgrade for free!!

Day 2...

Day 2 is now upon me and i've discovered this is going to be hard. I now share a small office with all the management and directors and believe me, it's a little cosy.

Now that the main packhouse has shutdown i'm struggling with what to do. There's very little IT coverage needed here and it's clear that I was only saved for if/when the main packhouse opens again. At the minute i'm working on cutting the costs of anything IT related and helping the other departments who lost some vital employees. This isn't a bad thing though as I can get some good experience of how the business works beyond IT and robots.
